CHINA CONNECT BEGINS NEW ERA OF INDIA-CHINA PROGRESS COOPERATION AND PARTNERSHIP


China President Xi Jinping was given a guided tour of the world heritage site in the ancient temple town of Mamallauram by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that, India and China decided to start a new chapter in their cooperation with the "Chennai Connect".


The China President Xi Jinping invited the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for another round of Informal Talks in China. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the India-China CHENNAI CONNECT on Saturday 12 October 2019, after the second round of informal talks at the Fishermans Cove Hotel near Chennai, with the China President Xi Jinping. 


The China President Xi Jinping said that the future leaders of both the nations should carry forward the process. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the China President Xi Jinping since Friday 11 October 2019, spent around six hours in one-on-one talks in Mamallapuram and the Fishermans Cove Near Chennai in India. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the China President Xi Jinping in their wide-ranging, free-wheeling talks, decided to build a new mechanism to discuss trade, investment and services. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that, "The Wuhan spirit had given a new momentum and trust to our ties. A new era of cooperation will begin today through the 'Chennai Connect'.

China President Xi Jinping has suggested that informal summits with free-wheeling discussions should be made a part of bilateral relations and "future leaders should follow it".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted China's invitation for the next round of talks, to be held in China.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the China President Xi Jinping helped by interpreters, have touched upon a range of issues over sumptuous Tamil delicacies. 

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the China President Xi Jinping spoke about trade and investment between the two countries. The trade deficit was also spoken about and it was concluded that there will be a new mechanism in place for trade and investment between the two nations."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the China President Xi Jinping on 11 October 2019 at Mamallapuram Beach, had spent more than five hours on one-on-one talks, during which they discussed a range of issues including trade and investment, combating terror, tourism and the need to expand people to people contact.

HISTORY OF MODI-XI INDIA-CHINA INFORMAL SUMMITS

The first informal summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the China President Xi Jinping took place in China's Wuhan, months after a 73-day face-off between the armies of the two countries in Doklam in 2017. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that, "We had decided that we will prudently manage our differences, and not allow them to become disputes, we will remain sensitive about each other's concerns."

China President Xi Jinping said that, the Wuhan summit "ushered China-India relations to a new stage of healthy and steady development" and "continues to produce visible progress and closer cooperation".

China President Xi Jinping said that, the two nations  now enjoy a "deeper strategic communication and effective practical cooperation".

MODI HAS HALTED CHINA LOUDMOUTHING ON KASHMIR

China President Xi Jinping's visit comes after the two Nations exchanged sharp words over Kashmir following his meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan three days ago. 

On 9 October 2019, a China-Pakistan joint statement said Jammu and Kashmir should be "properly and peacefully resolved based on the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements."

MODI WILL NOT ALLOW ANY NATION TO INTERFERE IN INDIA INTERNAL POLICY DECISIONS ON KASHMIR

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi Led India Government in its response, said that, "India's position has been consistent and clear that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. China is well aware of our position. It is not for other countries to comment on the internal affairs of India". 

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi Led India Government has also said the move in Jammu and Kashmir and making Ladakh as the Union Territory is the internal matter of India and NO Other Nation has the right to speak about the India Internal Policy Decisions.
